“Why would I go to an Ayurvedic practitioner instead of any other kind of practitioner?”
This is a really great question! I can easily get overly brainy about it. The short answer, though, is that an Ayurvedic practitioner has access to a unique set of tools to address your concerns — and help you improve your health and wellness.
Ayurveda is an ancient modality. It comes from what is today India and is at least 3,000 years old. (Side note: Chinese medicine developed out of Ayurveda.)
Ayurveda knows that we are all unique and distinct individuals. Ayurveda also knows that we are an integrated body–mind–spirit that thrives when we live with in harmony with nature’s rhythms.
The Ayurvedic approach is personalized to the person who is present, their accumulated health history, and what their goals for future health and wellness are.
Some resources that an Ayurvedic practitioner calls on include:
- daily self-care practices to support your body’s optimal functioning
- which foods to eat for your body-mind type & how best to prepare your foods
- seasonal routines that will strengthen your ties to nature’s rhythms
- herbal formulas to support digestion, elimination, and other issues
- massage and treatments for issues such as low back issues, eye issues, and joint pain
- purification programs to reset your digestion, encourage detoxification, and cleanse metabolic wastes
- yoga and exercise to strengthen your metabolism, increase oxygenation, and invite ease into your structure
- practices to calm an agitated nervous system
- ways to improve your connection to Spirit and deepen your intuitive capacity
Ayurveda is probably a good fit for you if:
- you value preventive care
- you are interested in a holistic approach
- you have active symptoms and you haven’t found resolution to them using allopathic medicine
- you are ready to re-envision your life and transform yourself into something grander
Scheduling a consultation is a good idea if:
- you feel disconnected from your body’s natural rhythms
- you feel generally unhappy with your pooping
- you feel overwhelmed and anxious from living in our contemporary world
- your brain is in overdrive
- your mind and spirit feel out of sorts
- you are ready to change the conversation that you are having with yourself—or your body—to something that is more positive
Ayurveda is a flexible and adaptable modality.
It is wonderful at improving sleep, increasing energy, decreasing stress, and resolving gut issues.
