Assemble everything in your bathroom, and place it so that you can easily reach it from inside your bathtub.
Begin filling your tub with water that is a comfortable temperature.
Pour ~2 c. of the milk into your measuring cup.
Pour the milk slowly over your head and allow it to run down your body into the bath water. {You heard me.}
Continue pouring the milk into your measuring cup and then over your head until you have used it all up.
Set the milk jug and measuring cup aside. If you are using any or all of the rose items, add them to your bath water.
Luxuriate for as long as you want to. Your skin will really thank you later.
If you used rose petals, collect and discard them before opening up the drain.
Shampoo the milk out of your hair before you get out of the tub.
Notes
When you are ready to get out of the bath, remove and discard the rose petals before opening the drain.
You may have a strong release of heat after this bath, so give some time for transition between activities.
Avoid facial treatments for the entire day after your milk bath (ie: facials, waxing, laser hair removal, etc).
After your milk bath, you will be noticeably calmer and less stressed.
Possible post-bath experiences include:
deep relaxation
sweating
red cheeks or face
tiredness
These are all signs that your body and nervous system are releasing excess heat. This is a good thing; it just might be intense for a little while. Thanks to SVAyurveda and Chandika for the inspiration for this post.
